WELCOME fellow Rotarians, to D1100 Foundation web pages. We trust you find them informative and stimulating. |
"It is said that every minute of every day Rotary will touch the lives of millions somewhere in the world" |

For the most part the truth of that statement is attributable to the Humanitarian work that Clubs and Districts carry out around the world, often using grants from The Rotary Foundation (Rotary's own charity). There are 4 words in Foundation's Mission Statement which sum up the core purpose of our charity: 'World Understanding and Peace'; we seek to achieve this through our local and international projects; when one group of people reaches out to help another group, we build up a friendship and understanding between nations. Because they share this vision, individual Rotarians and Clubs make voluntary donations to The Rotary Foundation to help fund such work . |
Following on from the very successful 'Thanks for Life' campaign in 2009/10, the 2010/11 District Governor's have agreed to continue with this theme, but with a variation on the Purple Pinkie idea; this year we will 'Focus on the Crocus'. The idea is to do mass plantings of purple crocuses in October which will flower in February, as a permanent reminder of Rotary's involvement with polio. It is hoped that many National Trust properties, Local Authorities etc. will take part in the scheme throughout Great Britain & Ireland, as we try for a Guiness Book of Records award for the biggest mass planting of bulbs. See the 'Focus on the Crocus' page under the Polio Eradication section, for more details. |

Polio Eradication is just one aspect of the work that we do through Foundation; our other work is either Educational or Humanitarian. |
Encouraging personal development and world understanding are the long running Ambassadorial and Group Study Exchange Scholarships together with the more recent World Peace Fellowships. Click " Scholarships " tab left for details. |
Application criteria and rules for Matching and District Simplfied Grants, which allow Rotary Clubs to directly access Foundation funds, are found; tab left "Rotary Grants". |
And we must not forget that, in order to take funds out as grants, we must first make those vitally important contributions to Foundation, our Charity. For details of Foundation's Funds, also a broad outline of who contributes to which fund, click the left hand "Funds and Funding" button. |
Left tab "News" will bring you up to date with the latest Foundation information. |
