The IMPACT Foundation - an RIBI Preferred Project |
 |
IMPACT is an international programme to prevent and alleviate needless disability. All its projects
are run by local people who also contribute resources to ensure that the work is cost-effective
and appropriate. |
The programme has already restored sight, mobility and hearing, or repaired cleft lip for over 630,000 people
and prevented a lifetime of disability for many thousands more.

|
IMPACT's objective is that no one should become or remain needlessly disabled through
disease, lack of knowledge or shortage of medical services. Its priorities are to: |
 |
| ■ |
Provide accessible surgery and early identification and treatment of disabling conditions. |
| ■ |
End hidden hunger caused by micro-nutrient malnutrition. |
| ■ |
Support safer motherhood and child survival |
| ■ |
Immunise against disabling disease. |
| ■ |
Help break the link between disability and ageing. |
|
The IMPACT foundation was selected as an RIBI preferred project by the members of
the RIBI General Council for 2006-2007. Throughout the year articles about the work
of the IMPACT Foundation will be posted in this section, illustrating the work of
the Foundation across the world. |
