The Rotary Young Chef competition was created to give young people the chance to show off their creative talents, to promote healthy eating and to learn an important life skill. All of secondary school age are eligible for this competition, now sponsored by Filippo Berio Olive Oils, and exciting prizes await the eventual winners. This year "Delicious" magazine is supporting the competition offering us additional publicity. We have already been the subject of an excellent article http://deliciousmagazine.co.uk/articles/calling-all-young-chefs which will have surely come to attention of schools and teachers. |
Competitions will be organised at Club, District, Regional and finally National level. Competitiors are asked to prepare a healthy meal for two, without great expense, following the principles of a balanced diet. Entries are judged on their creative choice of menu, planning and organisational skills, hygiene, taste and presentation of the dishes. Every club is entitiled to enter a young chef into the district final. Where a group of clubs organise a local event jointly then each participating club may enter one chef. |

At club level the rules are very much as agreed with your school. But at District and higher levels rules are standardised to those published on the RIBI website. See attachment below. |

The National Final will be held on Saturday 30th April 2011 at Stratford on Avon. To fit in with that date our District final must be held before the end of February 2011. To that end all club competitions should be completed by mid January 2010. In addition it would be enormously helpful if by 24th October 2010 participating clubs could have informed Bryan Bamber of their intention to run a competition. |

Our district has a great deal of experience of this competition so don't be afraid of asking for assistance from Bryan Bamber: bryanbamber@sky.com phone 01594 516323 |
