Rotary District 1100 - in the West Country and Welsh Marches of the United Kingdom
Youth Opportunities Projects
Rotary Young Person's Award for Design & Innovation
Finding tomorrow's budding engineers, inventors and designers

2009 Winner Natasha Morgan
This is a unique Rotary inter-district competition promoted by Districts 1100, 1060 and 1210
It's a Rotary Opportunity which is:
- easy to organise
- enables Rotary clubs to establish close ties with local schools
- promotes and showcases the work of local schools and their students.
- provides substantial prizes donated by major companies.
- provides participation certificates for every competitor
The Competition
It is aimed at final year GCSE, “A” level or BTech Design and Technology students who present and explain their final year casework to a panel of judges appointed by the District. Judges will look for the originality of design, quality of workmanship and potential for devlopment.
What is expected from Schools and Rotary Clubs
Very little. Rotary clubs will have to contact their local school and perhaps provide transport if required to and from competitions. School teaching staff need only select suitable students. Everything else will provided by the District.
Timing
The Inter-District Competition will be held in July 2011 shortly before school's summer break. To fit in with that date our own District competition will be held during June 2011. To that end clubs should submit their entries to Bryan Bamber by 24th May 2011. More exact timings will be published early in 2011
